Congratulations to Ally Rancourt who is our member of the month for February 2018. Find out more about Ally below!
Where are you from?
I'm from West Stewartstown NH, a small town of about 1000 people on the Canadian border.
How long have you been a member at Steel Fox?
I've been a member at Steelfox for almost 6 months. I joined because I had just moved to Burlington In July 2017, and I wanted to find a community to help make this new town feel like home. I've found that, and more. I've also always enjoyed working out an pushing myself, and crossfit seemed like the perfect way to do that.
What classes do you usually attend?
I usually attend the 5:30 pm classes, though I've tried all but the 9:00 am.
What do you like to do outside of Steel Fox?
When I'm not at Steelfox I enjoy being outside and being active, whether it be running, hiking, or snowboarding. Some of my other hobbies are reading, cooking, and singing in choirs, mostly at church.
What is something we might not know about you?
Something you might not know about me is that I'm a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I got my black belt when I was 13, and my mother and sister also have their black belts.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
My favorite crossfit movement is probably power cleans, though I love almost all of them (besides thrusters...)
What is your greatest accomplishment?
As a first generation college student my greatest accomplishment has been getting my BA in computer science and math. Getting my first strict pull up last month is a close second though!
What is one long term goal and short term goal of yours?
One long term goal is that I'm starting to work toward earning my Masters in computer science, and one of my short term goals is to squat 165 pounds.
What motivates and inspires you?
The idea of always striving to be better than I was yesterday motivates me. I don't do well standing still, and I've always found happiness in doing things that help me get closer to my goals, whether they be personal, fitness, or career related. I believe there's not many better feelings than finishing a task and knowing I gave it my all. My inspiration comes from the people I surround myself with; seeing others succeed and work hard makes me happy, and it makes me want to succeed as well.
