Nutrition is the foundation of any fitness program or sport. Steel Fox has a nutrition philosophy that I am sure you have all heard at one point.

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

Here at Steel Fox Fitness, we take our nutrition just as serious as our training. We consider our bodies machines that need to be maintained with proper movement and fuel. You wouldn’t put regular basic gasoline in your brand new mercedes would you? So what is different about your body? You cannot out train a poor diet and in order to have optimal performance in any sport you must have a good base of nutrition.

Here are some tips to help you along your nutrition journey.

1. Eat the rainbow. A diet that contains a variety of vegetables and fruits will provide your body with the nutrients it needs to not only just function well, but it will enhance your performance. The intensity in Coach Rita’s training means your body requires more nutrients than your average Joe. So add in at least 3 servings of vegetables and 1-2 servings of fruit each day to reap the benefits.

2. Be prepared. Making your meals ahead of time and meal prepping for the days ahead is a sure way of setting yourself up for success. If you have healthy meals ready to go, you are less likely to reach for those convenience foods that are mostly unhealthy for you.

3. Eat some form of protein at breakfast. This will make a huge difference in your health and performance regardless of your goals. Want to lose fat, build muscle and rock your day? Eat protein with breakfast!! Why does eating protein with breakfast benefit you? It stabilizes energy levels, boosts your metabolism, and provides your muscles with amino acids to help your muscle recover.

Remember, nutrition is for life. What you put in your mouth is either going to help you achieve your goals, or hinder your progress.
